Don’t let this winter freeze your brain.
Let's warm our hearts and minds together.

Don’t just watch a play—experience and be a part of it. Join us in a supportive environment as we read  The Three Sisters. Sessions will be led by Shauna Kanter, Voice Theatre’s artistic director, and Lance R. Marshall, one of Voice Theatre’s ensemble actors. Zoom and in-person sessions.

You will have the opportunity to:

Explore the unique differences between reading a script and a novel.

Focus on the “world” of the play, including the playwright’s vision and intent, the time and place and cultural circumstances when the play was written and how those components influenced Chekhov’s The Three Sisters.

Read out-loud and discuss selected scenes.

Attend a rehearsal followed by a cocktail reception with the cast, director and crew.

Attend a performance and talkback with the actors and director.

Want more?
You and a friend can dine with a cast member at Le Canard, in Kingston.

The first Page to Stage offering is Anton Chekhov's The Three Sisters. Written in 1900 and first performed in 1901 at the Moscow Art Theatre, The Three Sisters tell the tale of Olga, Masha, and Irina. Trapped in a provincial town, they long to return to their former life in cultured Moscow. The story unfolds on Irina's birthday as she vows to work. Masha, married to the faithful Kulygin, meets the dashing Vershinin who becomes the love of her life and Olga grapples with her unfulfilled dreams as she tries to keep the family together.

Themes of hope, disillusionment, duty and fulfillment are highlighted as the characters touchingly capture the nuances of love, the quest for happiness, and the courage to face their lives.
